Amids the celebration of the Basilisa Contigent who were declared as Champion of the 2nd BUGKUSAN SA ISLA, DINAGATAN FESTIVAL in San Jose, a tragedy hits the municipality as the six (6) classroom-building of Ferdinand Elementary School in barangay Ferdinand swallowed by huge fire at more or less 4PM on December 2, 2009 allegedly cause by faulty electrical wirings leaving the 208 pupils roomless on their studies. Teachers have nothing to secure in their records, documents and other pupils' property since fire quickly spread in just a couple of minutes, some witness said. Fortunately, no injuries and casualties recorded since classes was suspended to commemorate the Bugkusan festivities. Fire truck which are from San Jose has nothing to do with the devastation since they arrived in the fire scene an hour past. Teachers are having their temporary classes in small nipa cottages.Today, different classes were held in differents purok centers in the barangay. I AM APPEALING TO ALL WHO HAVE MORE IN LIFE TO EXTEND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE 208 PUPILS ESPECIALLY FOR THEIR BOOKS, NOTEBOOKS, PENCILS AND BALLPENS”.LET THE SEASON OF CHRISTMAS BE A JOY FOR THESE CHILDREN.
