It started when the barangay council passed a resolution to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Basilisa requesting the mayor to appropriate funds for Tag-abaca Barangay High School.
Since the barangay officials of Tag-abaca were very determined, Ex-Brgy. Capt. Carlos Lapingcao, Sr. with his councilmen led a group of parents to construct the first building through a “boluntaryo” or “pahina” system. The building was made of light materials. On June 1976 the new Tag-abaca Barangay High School came into existence. The building was still within the elementary campus. Mr. Isabelo Jolejole, Head Teacher and teachers at that time accepted only first and second year enrollees. At first there were only few students. Married men and women were among the students who found a formal secondary education. It was on August 12, 1976 when the funds were released for the construction of the buildings. The LGU through Ex-Mayor Leonardo Diegas then donated a lot for the site of the secondary building as requested by Mrs. Virginia C. Gonzaga who was then the School in-charge during that time.
During the 1990 to 1995, Mr. Ruperdito Tarre replaced Mrs. Gonzaga as the new school in-charge. He was then followed by Mr. Reynaldo Clavacio, a full-pledged principal. During the administration of Mr. Clavacio seven teachers were added in the teaching staff in one calendar year only. After three years, Mr. Clavacio was transferred to Campo NHS. It was a confusing exit since just few months passed, Mr. Zosimo Galido took over the school’s administration as School in-charge for two years, Mr. Eduardo Ebon followed next in line in the administration being a secondary school principal, years 2000-2002. Right after him was Mr. Concordio Deniega spending almost four years in the school from 2002 to July 14, 2006. Within these years the school was fully developed and improved.
